When life sucks, when you feel lonely. Body and mind remain intertwined. Take ethereal female vocals, add some synth bass and new wave guitar, and pour generously minimalist drum machine sounds. Mix it until it turns into a deeply melodic electro indie gem. Piece of mind gives hope to people with obsessive ruminations. The composition of Thousands of Poppies' new track Piece of Mind began during Covid when Veronique transcribed her bad mood emotions into lyrics. Then started the rigorous research of the melody by Jody.

A match made in heaven!

Thousands of Poppies is an independent and alternative band, made in Belgium. Véro & Jody mingled under an umbrella in front of the stage of a festival in 2018. They seduced and captivated each other thanks to a common passion “ music. An intimate and long-distance relationship was born, exchanging emails and, of course, music files. Véronique deploys her voice, almost ethereal, and Jody finds his creativity back the purity and determination of the beginnings. They have found their own sound freshness and feed off each other.

Thousands of Poppies wishes to sow delicate, elegant, powerful, wild but polished musical seeds that will blossom into red wild flowers.

They release tracks with organic and atmospheric melodies rooted in the 80s and 90s, a range of electro-pop, dream or shiver pop, new wave, or indie seeds. These are slices of late-night vibes, like the soundtrack of their own movie. Their influences? Massive Attack, Still Corners, Cocteau Twins, Ela Minus, LCD Soundsystem, Ry X, The Jesus & Mary Chains, Michaël Kiwanuka, Moby, Tyco, Future Islands, Bonobo, The Chromatics and many more.

In 2020 Thousands of Poppies launched a teaser for their debut single Feel Like Ya on socials. The teaser was generously shared, and numerous gigs were scheduled in Belgium. The first three singles (Feel Like Ya, Baby doll and Top song) reached the main Belgian Radio Stations (RTBF, La Premiere, Classic 21). Numerous press articles came out, and RTBF Jam chose the band twice as «Belgian Novelties». Beatport Best New Indie Dance playlist on Spotify playlisted Thousands of Poppies Feel like Ya club mix in 2021.

A first 7-track nectar popped out in 2022. Thousands of Poppies self-produced EP, Musical Seeds Supplier as the outcome of 2 years of musical complementarity and organic research between Véronique and Jody. After composing Feel Like, the duo produced a dozen demos over the course of a year. Sometimes arranged, sometimes put aside, these tracks take the form of singles that Thousands of Poppies wishes to share with a sensitive audience attracted to Anglo-Saxon sounds or appealed by new alternative music. This EP reflects their emotions, dark and sensitive, personal, and sensual, written by Véronique and put into music by Jody.

In 2023 Thousands of Poppies was chosen by RTBF Jam to perform a 3 song live session.
